Working with providers
Working with Tennessee Chiropractic Physicians
Recent state legislation is prompting updates to reimbursement agreements for select chiropractic providers. Here's the latest information about the transition and our provider support efforts.

Updates on Tennessee Chiropractic Physician Contracts
Due to a recent Tennessee law, beginning Jan. 1, 2027, we’re updating some chiropractic provider contracts to shift from per-visit reimbursement rates to a new approach that aligns with how physicians are paid.
That means we’re updating agreements with affected chiropractic providers in our Blue Network E,SM Blue Network L,SM Blue Network P,SM Blue Network S,SM FEP, Medicare Advantage and BlueCarePlus plans.
We don’t anticipate changes to member benefits as a result of this effort.
How We’re Supporting Providers
We know providers may have questions about these changes, and here’s how we are helping providers through the transition.
- •July 31, 2026
- •We sent initial notifications to affected chiropractic providers.
- •August 2026
- •We distributed additional notifications and contract amendments to affected providers.
- •We began reaching out directly to affected providers to answer questions, discuss the changes and work closely with them throughout the transition process. We remain committed to helping as many providers as possible remain in-network.
- •January 1, 2027
- •Updated reimbursement arrangements are expected to take effect for most affected chiropractic providers.
We’ll continue working directly with providers throughout the process and share updates when there’s new information.
